30mm AFV Replica Rounds For Rapid Military Vehicle Restoration
30mm AFV Replica Rounds
Low Volume Production of 150 Units
“These are exactly what I wanted, Spot on”
Overview
This project was completed for Rapid Military Vehicle Restoration, who required replica ammunition for display inside restored armoured fighting vehicles. The brief was to produce one hundred and fifty replica rounds in total. The order consisted of five different versions, with thirty units of each type. The aim was to provide accurate, safe and visually authentic replicas suitable for public and private exhibitions.

Goal: Create accurate and inert display rounds for AFV interiors
We created this collection of replica AFV rounds to support Rapid Military Vehicle Restoration and to demonstrate what AXIS VDF can deliver for detailed, repeatable production runs. The brief was to supply 150 inert rounds across five variants, accurate enough for museum grade display while remaining completely safe and cost effective. By digitising a reference round, refining it in Blender and managing 3D printing and hand finishing in house, we were able to control scale, colour and markings from first prototype through to the final batch of shells.
Case Study Highlights
The project began with a physical replica round that served as the main reference for scale and proportions. A digital version of the round was created in Blender. Each variant was then painted virtually inside the software. This allowed us to check colours, markings and layout before moving into production. The digital workflow ensured all five versions remained consistent and true to the real rounds they were based on.
Once the models were approved the rounds were 3D printed in batches. The sets were painted, detailed and marked to reflect the appearance of real AFV ammunition while remaining completely inert. Each unit was finished by hand to ensure quality.
The finished collection provides Rapid Military Vehicle Restoration with a full set of accurate and safe display rounds. These replicas help restore the visual authenticity of armoured vehicles without the cost or risks associated with real ammunition.
